Troy Lavelle, Managing Accountant
Troy graduated in 1997 from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Science degree. Prior to joining Paar Melis & Associates in 1998, his work experience included accounting/bookkeeping positions and working multiple jobs while raising a family and going to college. His hobbies include playing sports, and he enjoys attending his daughter Jessica’s high school lacrosse games. He is an avid Dallas Cowboys, Maryland Terps & Washington Capitals fan, while his wife, Tanya, is a diehard Washington Redskins fan.
Gail Brown
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Gail has worked in accounting for more than 16 years, 5 in public accounting. She joined Paar, Melis & Associates in 2008, where she provides a wide range of accounting and tax services, she feels fortunate to have clients who are great people, and wonderful to work with. Married since 1997, she has a daughter and a son. The family also includes 3 dogs (a golden retriever and 2 Pembroke corgis). Gail has served as the treasurer for the PTSA and her daughter’s high school band for the last 2 years; in that capacity; she manages money for over 200 students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the lake with family and friends, playing cards, watching movies and reading. As for sports, she is a Redskins fan through and through!! GO SKINS!!
Monique R. Scott
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Monique graduated from Bowie State University with an accounting degree. She began her career at Paar Melis & Associates as a tax preparer in 2005, and has advanced to progressively more complex and diverse projects. She plans to sit for the CPA soon. Monique lives in Baltimore, and is a very, very, very loyal Ravens fan.
Cheryl Ryan, Tax Preparer
Cheryl graduated from Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She enjoys working with clients and is involved in all phases of client engagements. Cheryl enjoys kayaking, biking, playing tennis, traveling and of course--working on taxes. She has been married for 20 years and enjoys spending time with her four children. Go Ravens!
Debbie Brown
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Debbie has been working at Paar Melis & Associates since 2008, and is involved with all phases of client engagements. Her hobbies include reading and creating turn wood pens. She is married with two children.
Terry Delph
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Terry is a graduate of Howard Community College, where she earned an AA degree in business management. She began her career as an Insurance Account Specialist, then worked as a Marketing Manager in the automotive field. She became a stay-at-home mom after her first child in 1989, while taking on bookkeeping work and many other jobs working from home. Terry joined Paar, Melis & Associates in 2008, where she especially enjoys working with many clients from all over the country. She has expertise in Quickbooks and Peachtree, and specializes in payroll.
Terry is happily married to Bob and they have four beautiful children, Bobby – 21, Megan – 18, Sarah – 14 and Bethany – 10.
Chris Kotchenreuther, Tax Manager
Chris started working at Paar Melis & Associates in 2006. She has over 10 years tax experience and passed her Enrolled Agents Exam in 2010. As an Enrolled Agent she is a Tax Law Specialist who passed an IRS Tax Exam in order to become certified in advising and representing individuals. Chris lives in Walkersville with her husband and three children.
Patti Ferris
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Patti has been with Paar Melis & Associates for 4 years. Her professional background includes 20 years of corporate accounting. She enjoys training clients to maximize the benefits of using Quickbooks as well as the reports Quickbooks generates to analyze their businesses.
She spends much of her spare time with her Champion English Cocker Spaniels: Mason, Conner and Jennie. She also works at obedience and agility training with dogs. Patti enjoys counted cross-stitching and jewelry-making, and has created many beautiful pieces. Her husband says she has too many hobbies, but one hobby they enjoy together, and play whenever they can, is golf.
Hunt Demarest
Accounting & QuickBooks Specialist
Hunt recently graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in economics, he is continuing his education and plans to become a CPA. He has been with Paar Melis & Associates for 4 years. Hunt is a Ravens fan.
Nancy Curtis, Administrative Assistant
Nancy is responsible for the smooth operation of the firm's administrative functions, it can be quite a challenge keeping the team organized.
